READ: John 16:28-33
Jesus answered them, do ye now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. – John 16:31-32
Jesus believed in God. Whether human beings were with Him or not did not matter. What mattered was that God was with Him.
Most people want to belong to a group. It takes faith to stand alone. Only men of faith do not need the comfort and reassurance that a group gives. Men of faith are ready to be alone! One time, Jesus asked His disciples whether they wanted to leave Him. He was ready to stand alone and have no disciples at all. Indeed, when He was arrested, all men forsook Him and He was left alone to deal with Pharisees, Sadducees, the Chief Priest and the Romans.
Most of the other heroes of faith were able to stand alone for what they believed. Do you have faith in God? If you have faith, you must be ready to stand alone for your convictions without any support from anyone.
People who always have to be in a group are not men of faith. If you cannot pray alone, you do not have faith in God. If you always have to be in a crowded prayer meeting, you are not a man of faith. If you have faith, you can stay alone for days as you fellowship with God and pray to Him.
Jesus endured the greatest loneliness because He was faithful to the Father.
David stood alone. He walked alone because he was anointed to be the future king (1 Samuel 21:1-3).
Walking with God can be a lonely road. Your faith will cause a separation to occur. You will be rejected by men and despised by many because of your faith.
