READ: John 8:29-32
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” – Acts 10:38
Your father may give you a house but he may not be in the house. He may give you some money and you may walk away with that and still walk away from His presence. Many people may have the anointing and the gifts of God but are far from His presence. This is why I say that if I had to choose between the anointing and the presence of God, I would choose the presence of God.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the empowerment to work for God. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach, to heal and to set the captives free.” (Luke 4:18). The anointing on your life empowers you to do spiritual works like preaching, teaching, healing and setting captives free. The anointing of God is what we call the gifts of the Spirit and the gifts of ministry. The gifts of prophecy, the gift of healing, the gifts of word of knowledge and wisdom are given to make you minister, to make you preach and to make you heal.
The presence of God is made up of these three elements: the aura of His presence, the voice of His presence and the gifts of His presence. If you had to choose between the presence of God and the anointing, which one would you ask for? You are more likely to ask for the anointing because you do not know what the presence of God is. Why would you choose the anointing of God when you could have the presence of God? The presence of God is the anointing of God plus more!
