READ: 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
“The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? the bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” – 1 Corinthians 10:16
Communion comes to us through the blood of Jesus Christ! Through the blood of Jesus you can now have communion with God.
This means that intimacy and deep relationships come to us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Communion is the intimate fellowship that we have with the Lord and other brethren through the blood of Jesus. It was when I found Christ that I had meaningful intimate relationships with other Christians. The communion and fellowship I found in Christ is one of the most precious gifts I have enjoyed by being born again.
Many people in the world do not have great intimate relationships. Worldly relationships are usually based on money, power or sex. These worldly relationships often end up in disaster.
Through the blood of Jesus, we are privileged to enjoy a special kind of relationship. It is called “communion through the blood”. We are linked through the blood of Jesus.
In the human body, the toes, the kidneys, the heart and the brain are linked by blood. In the same way, the blood of Jesus links us with God and with the rest of the body of Christ. Through the blood of Jesus, we have communion with God and a relationship with other members of the body of Christ.
Communion through the blood of Jesus Christ! Intimacy through the blood of Jesus Christ! Fellowship through the blood of Jesus Christ!
