READ: 1 Samuel 21:1-4

Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, WHY ART THOU ALONE, AND NO MAN WITH THEE? – 1 Samuel 21:1

Most of the other heroes of faith were able to stand alone for what they believed. If you have faith, you must be ready to stand alone for your convictions without any support from anyone.

1. Abraham stood alone. Abraham had faith to be separated from his family. Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I CALLED HIM ALONE, and blessed him, and increased him. Isaiah 51:1-2

2. Jeremiah stood alone. Jeremiah had enough faith to be separated from his family. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I SAT ALONE because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. Jeremiah 15:16-17

3. Jacob stood alone. Jacob was alone when he encountered God. So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company. And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok. And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had. AND JACOB WAS LEFT ALONE; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. Genesis 32:21-24

4. The psalmist stood alone. The psalmist had faith to be alone with God. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and AM AS A SPARROW ALONE UPON THE HOUSE TOP. Psalms 102:6-7
