READ: Hebrews 13:17-25
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:2
Your first role as a member of a church is that of a faithful attendee. “Faithful” means “constant, regular, reliable, dedicated and committed”. Decide to attend all services, meetings and special programmes organized by the church, so that you have adequate fellowship and spiritual feeding.
Your second role in the church is that of a stable Christian. You must be planted and established in a local church. Do not form the habit of roaming from one church to the other seeking signs and wonders or other solutions (Psalm 92:12 13).
Your third role is to support the church financially to help carry the Gospel to others and to keep the church running. Allow Jesus to be Lord over your finances as well. You support the church financially by giving offerings at church services (Luke 6:38). You also support the church financially by regularly paying your tithes (ten per cent of any income received, monthly or whenever received (Proverbs 3:9, 10).
Your fourth role is to make your talents and gifts available to the church. Put your God-given abilities to full use in His house. God has given everyone an ability or talent that is beneficial to His church. Be ready to perform any special duties assigned to you by the leadership.
Your fifth role is to know your pastors, to love and to respect them. You are also expected to pray for them (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13). May you be rooted and grounded in Christ until He comes again!
