READ: Hebrews 10:26-39
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” – Ephesians 4:30
You must be led by the Spirit of God so that you do not anger Him. “Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us” (Hebrews 10:29, NLT).
After grieving or quenching the Holy Spirit, you can enter into a very dangerous dimension in relation to the wonderful Holy Spirit who has been given to guide you in this life. You can insult him and anger Him. Taking someone for granted and acting presumptuously can be insulting. Years of being ignored, being quenched and being set aside can amount to deep insult to the Spirit of grace. You must obey the voice of the Spirit so that you do not become guilty of insulting the mighty Holy Spirit.
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:6-11, NASB
