READ: John 14:7-14

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, THAT WILL I DO, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” – John 14:13-14

Today, we will look at two big promises of prayer in the Book of John. Each one of them is a little different and throws some light on the prayer life of a Christian. You must learn to quote God’s Word back to Him. They are the only legal basis you have for praying to God.

First, there is the prayer promise that it will be done! What you ask is what will be done by Jesus. These are the words of Jesus. He will do certain things when you ask in His name. What do you need to be done? What has to be done? Is there anything that needs urgent attention? God will take care of it. God will do what you ask.

Second, there is the prayer promise for those who abide in Him.

IF YE ABIDE IN ME, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

If you have been a Christian for at least three years, I am sure that this scripture can work for you. Why is that? If you have been a Christian for three years it means you have been abiding in Christ for three years.

If you know the Bible relatively well and you understand it, then His Word is abiding in you. If you fulfil these two conditions you can ask for anything you want and it will be done for you. Believe in this great prayer promise. This is one of the greatest verses in the Bible. You ask what you will and it will be done unto you!
