READ: Luke 12:16-21
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” – Hebrews 9:27-28
It is indeed appointed once for men to die (Hebrews 9:27). But when is that appointment going to take place? It is going to take place on the day that has been determined by God. The rich fool did not realise that a decision had been taken in the heavens for his withdrawal from the earth (Luke 12:17-20). When God takes a decision about having a meeting with you, you will have no choice but to keep the appointment.
John the Baptist who was declared to be the greatest man born of women did not die because of some whimsical decision of a jealous and wicked woman. No, no, no! John the Baptist died because of a weighty decision that was taken in Heaven. The angels were asked to stand back as God’s honoured servant was withdrawn from the earth. Do you think that Jesus Christ was killed on the cross by the wickedness of jealous Pharisees? Certainly not! The death of Jesus was something that was planned thousands of years ago.
You cannot live beyond the day that you have been appointed to die. The boundaries have been appointed and no amount of precautions or preventive measures can stop death or move that boundary. “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass” (Job 14:5).
The death of a saint is truly a precious and weighty decision that God has to make. Never think that God’s servants are whimsically removed from this earth. For you to die, God will have to take an important decision. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15
