READ: 2 Timothy 2:11-19
“But the Comforter, which is the HOLY GHOST, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your REMEMBRANCE, whatsoever I have said unto you.” – John 14:26
The work of the Holy Spirit is to remind Christians of what they already know. The work of the Holy Spirit is to bring things into your mind. A good pastor must not assume that the church members will remember to come to church or to serve the Lord. As you are prompted by the Holy Spirit, you must remind Christians of the need for them to come to church. You must remind Christians of the need to serve the Lord. Whenever you do this, you are working hand in hand with the Holy Spirit.
Call up your members! Stir them up! Remind them to come to church! Tell them why fellowshipping is important. Do not assume that they know what is right. The apostle Paul gave an apostolic command to Timothy to remind his members of the right thing to do. An obedient son is likely to see more church growth than a proud pastor who can no longer be admonished. Paul had a son he could command and instruct. That person was Timothy. It is no wonder that Timothy’s church was one of the largest in his time.
OF THESE THINGS PUT THEM IN REMEMBRANCE, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2 Timothy 2:14
People can be stirred up when you talk to them. When you call your church members on Saturday night, you remind them of how important it is to be in church on Sunday. When you speak with excitement about the approaching church service, they will be stirred up to meet you in church.
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both WHICH I STIR UP YOUR PURE MINDS by way of remembrance:
