READ: Exodus 26:10-14
“And the covering of rams ‘skins dyed red, and THE COVERING OF BADGERS’ SKINS, and the vail of the covering,” – Exodus 39:34
“Badgers’ skin” was the ugly skin of a badger that was used as a roof for the house of God. They did not have roofing tiles or roofing sheets in those days. Badgers’ skin was ugly but nicely resisted the rain and elements.
What does badgers’ skin speak of ? Badgers’ skin speaks of the physical covering over the presence of God. Badgers’ skin was used in the covering of the Tabernacle.
The sturdy, resistant covering over the Tabernacle, speaks of the sturdy resistant covering that we need to enjoy God’s presence. It is true that God’s presence is found where two or three are gathered in His name. This may be under a tree or by the roadside. However, having your own building with your own roof over your head changes the level of your ministry. You will experience the presence of God when you are stable with a protective roof over your head. Churches that have buildings and roofs are more likely to experience God’s presence. Build a church! Get a roof over your congregation! Enough with temporary structures! Enough with tents! You need the tough badgers’ skin to protect the tabernacle (the presence of God).
You must build with badgers’ skin if you want to have God’s presence. God will not inhabit the places that do not follow His prescription. Without the element of badgers’ skin, His presence will not be with you in your ministry.
