READ: Exodus 30:14-21

And he made the LAVER OF BRASS, and the foot of it of brass, OF THE LOOKINGGLASSES OF THE WOMEN assembling, which assembled at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation. – Exodus 38:8

The laver of brass was a metal bowl filled with water. You would have to wash your hands after handling the blood on the altar of sacrifice. This is a clear step in the journey to the presence of God – the laver filled with water for the washing of your hands and feet. The laver was actually built with the mirrors of the women. This meant that you could see your reflection in the water as you washed your hands. This container of water was a prophetic foretelling of the importance of the word of God. Without the cleansing of your mind, your mind will never be able to experience the presence of God in a certain way.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding HIS NATURAL FACE IN A GLASS: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. James 1:23-24

The laver of brass speaks of self-assessment through the Word.

The laver was built with the mirrors of the women and so you could see a reflection of yourself as you washed your hands. Clearly, the laver was a prophetic description of something that you can use to assess yourself.

The laver, therefore, prophetically speaks of the Word of God. In order to experience the presence of God, you need the word of God. All through the Bible, the washing with water speaks of the word of God cleansing you. Jesus said, “You are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” (John 15:3)

The doctrines of the Word of God are described as rain! You are cleansed by the washing of the water of the Word!
