READ: Matthew 26:36-54
“I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.” – Jeremiah 10:23
The perfect will of God is important when a minister is praying. It is important to pray only according to the will of God. You cannot just pray about anything you want. You must be led by the Spirit in prayer. You may waste hours praying about things that God will not answer. Every important person has something that he wants to listen to at a particular time.
God equally has things He wants to hear. When I go to wait on the Lord, I seek to know what He wants me to pray about. One day I went to God prepared to pray about winning millions of souls in crusades. But I suddenly heard the voice of the Lord, “Pray rather that you may finish your work.” I was shocked and a little frightened. My whole prayer time changed and I began to pray about finishing the work God has given me.
It is time to start praying according to the will of God and to stop wasting hours on useless gibberish that God is not listening to.
“In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26, NASB). Be filled with the knowledge of God’s will whenever you pray
