POWER OF ABUNDANCE

READ: Luke 5: 1-11
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: :-2 Corinthians 9:8

As Jesus came by the lake of Gennesaret, He was full of power to perform miracles. The miracle power of provision, of wealth, of supply and of abundance was walking on the beach. Who would stir up this miracle power? Who would stir up the gift of God?

It was Simon Peter who stirred up the gift of God by giving out his ship to the pastor. The ship, which was normally used for fishing, was now being used for preaching. Simon, who had nothing to do with the ministry, stirred up the gift of God by allowing himself and what he had to be used by God.

You can stir up the gift of God by giving and sowing seeds into the kingdom of God. Many years ago, when we were having a fund-raising event to build our first cathedral, an unmarried lady stepped forward and donated a huge amount, which was probably everything she had, and even beyond what she had.

It is a blessing and a miracle to be chosen to be someone’s wife. That miracle happened to this lady shortly after she gave that amazing offering. It was not the amount, because she was not a rich person, but the gesture of giving more than she had to the Lord. That made all the difference!

When Peter gave his ship to be used for preaching, Jesus was greatly moved. The heavens were stirred. The power of abundance was released. Peter’s boat began to sink. He had enough fish to last for months. He was the richest fisherman in the whole of Galilee.

Jesus was demonstrating the power of abundance in this remarkable story. We learn the keys to stirring up the power of abundance. You can stir up the power of abundance by giving.
