READ: Jeremiah 13:1-10

This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.:- Jeremiah 13:10

The prophet Jeremiah was instructed to go and hide a girdle in a rock by the river. After many days, he was instructed to go and take the girdle. The girdle was destroyed and unusable. Then the Word of the Lord was clear. The people who do not listen to the words of God become like this girdle: good for nothing! The prophet Jeremiah declared that a person becomes good for nothing when he does not hear the Word of God.

People who do not listen to preaching messages cannot be used by God. Have you wondered why God is not using you in a certain way? Give yourself to preaching messages! Give yourself to soaking in camps, videos and preaching. The more you see and the more you hear, the more useful you are to God.

1. God describes those who do not hear His Word as evil people.
2. God describes those who do not listen to messages as proud people.
3. God describes those who do not listen to messages as walking in the imagination of their hearts.
4. God describes those who do not listen to messages as idol worshippers.
5. God describes those who do not listen to messages as good for nothing.

Why is it that not listening to preaching and teaching has such a negative effect on your spirit? When you do not give yourself to seeing and hearing, you are exposed to a whole lot of evils. You hear other things! You hear conversations! You hear people chatting! You listen to the radio! You watch the news! All these do not build up your spirit. These things do not make you a mighty man of God.
