READ: Mark 5:21-34
“And Jesus…turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?“ – Mark 5:30
I am a firm believer in the ability of women to catch the anointing. I think I can say that women are more receptive to the Holy Spirit than men. It is this receptivity that is often misread and misunderstood.
If you look closely at the story of the woman with the issue of blood, you will notice certain things about women catching the anointing. That day in particular the anointing was flowing at a very high level. A few hours earlier, Jesus had cast out six thousand demons from a madman in Gadara. He had crossed the river and was on his way to raise the dead. A certain smelly , nameless woman (unnamed up till today) came near to Jesus. She had what it took to connect herself to the anointing that was on Jesus. As soon as she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment something happened to her. The anointing passed into her. Jesus felt it and she did as well. Is it not amazing that the disciples did not recognize or feel the flow of the Spirit in the service? An unidentified person from nowhere came and received it all. This is the pattern of receptivity that I have noticed.
You see, the power of God can be felt. Jesus felt it going out of Him. Perhaps you see all these things as emotionalism. I can assure you that there is more to it than the emotions of a woman. Woman, thou art receptive! Do not be intimidated any longer by the brothers who are stiff and unyielding to the Holy Spirit. Woman, thou art not hysterical! Thou art receptive to the Spirit of God!
