Being a shepherd is high-ranking job because you are a manager in God’s house. You are the person who has control and direction of the institution. The direction in which everything will go depends on you. You are the one who handles and controls the resources of the church. If the church prospers, it is up to you. If the church is impoverished it is also your fault.

Being a shepherd is high-ranking because you are a supervisor in God’s house.Is it not a blessing to be made a supervisor? Being a shepherd is high-ranking because you are a director in God’s house. Is it not a privilege for God to raise you up to become a director in His house? In many ways, a shepherd directs the lives of the sheep. What an honour and a privilege!

But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

Being a shepherd is high-ranking because you are an administrator in God’s house.

So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man,
Genesis 39:6 (NLT)

What a privilege for you to administer God’s wisdom, power and gifts to His people. He has made you like Joseph who was the administrator of Egypt. The problem of hunger was solved by Joseph. Joseph administered all the grain and all the food and all the provisions to the people of Egypt. This will be your job as a shepherd – to remove hunger, want and need.
