Daily Devotional: 7th February “ENEMY FIGHTS FRUITS”

READ: Revelation 12:1-4

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. :-Jeremiah 17:7-8

Leviathan is the piercing serpent that causes hurts and offences. Do not be overcome by the piercing strikes of leviathan. Don’t be hurt! Don’t be unforgiving! Don’t be bitter! The piercing works of leviathan cause offence all the time.

Hurts and offences are reasons why people become fruitless. Most human beings are hurt about something. Most human beings have a good reason to be hurt. Leviathan capitalizes on our tendency to be offended and inflicts more and more piercing wounds in people’s hearts.

These piercing leviathan wounds cause barrenness and fruitlessness to engulf Christians. Jesus said that offences would surely come! (Matthew 18:7) Offences are stumbling blocks that cause people to fall flat on their faces and stop moving forward. Many people are flat on their faces, unable to bear fruit anymore because of their hurts. The hurts, offences and stumbling blocks have brought them to a place of barrenness.

The enemy also fights your fruitfulness by devouring your fruits as soon as they are born. In Revelation 12:4, the dragon was well positioned to swallow up the child of the woman. This is the classic position of the enemy: ready to swallow up your fruits.

Jesus wants us to bear fruit that will abide. Satan wants to swallow up all the young pastors with pornography, sex and homosexuality. Satan wants to devour all the fruits of the ministry.

The beginning of your real strength is when you have fruits of sons and daughters in the ministry. Jacob described his first-born son as the beginning of his strength and might (Genesis 49:3). Indeed, the beginning of your strength and the beginning of your might is when you have fruits of sons and daughters in the ministry.
