READ: 2 Kings 3:15-19; 26-27
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. – Matthew 2:11
When Jesus was born, wise men came from the east with three gifts: myrrh, gold and frankincense.
Frankincense is white incense! Frankincense is the highest type of pure incense. Frankincense was presented as a special gift to Jesus. Frankincense, therefore, was a type of offering presented
to the Lord. Offerings can bring in the presence of God and change the course of events in your life.
Your powerful offering can ascend as a type of prayer that can change God’s mind. For instance, the king of Moab and the Moabites were condemned to defeat and destruction. The prophet had prophesied their destruction and they were doomed.
This prophecy spelt doom for the Moabites. We know that God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). We know that when Elisha spoke the word of God it was sure and the Moabites were doomed. There was no way the Moabites were going to escape. However, the king changed the course of the prophecy by his offering. The offering that he gave released such power that the word of God was altered and the destruction intended for Moab was diverted.
THEN HE TOOK HIS ELDEST SON THAT SHOULD HAVE REIGNED IN HIS STEAD, AND OFFERED HIM FOR A BURNT OFFERING UPON THE WALL. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land. 2 Kings 3:27
You can divert all doom and destruction that is headed towards you by your offerings. You can bring down the presence of God by the sweetsmelling prayers and the amazing offerings that you have for the Lord.
