READ: Romans 8:35-39
“…but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when he comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;” – John 16:7-8 (NASB)
You must pray for the Holy Spirit so that you have godly convictions. Praying for the Holy Spirit is very important because we are convicted by His presence. One of the works of the Holy Spirit is to give you strong convictions. Convictions are beliefs and strong persuasions. Most of your Christian life is governed by the strong convictions you have. Without strong convictions you cannot do much for God.
Weak Christians are people who do not have strong convictions about God. They do not have strong convictions about serving God. They do not have strong beliefs about the importance of fellowship. Their lack of conviction is what makes them weak. One of the things the Holy Spirit does is to give you convictions.
I have strong convictions about full-time ministry. I have strong convictions about giving myself all out to Jesus. I have strong convictions about working in the ministry. I have strong convictions about debt. These strong convictions have guided me in the ministry.
Today, lots of Christians walk about claiming to know Jesus Christ. If they really had strong convictions about the things they claim to believe, this world would be different. The lack of the Holy Spirit is what leads to a lack of conviction. More prayer for the Holy Spirit will lead to more conviction.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
