READ: Luke 3:1-8, 21-23
“And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph…” – Luke 3:23
Your spiritual age does not correspond to your natural age. Being older in the natural does not mean you are older in the spirit.
Do you think that John the Baptist was spiritually immature or not? Indeed, I am sure he was mature. Jesus called him the greatest prophet who ever lived. “For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (Luke 7:28).
John the Baptist ministered and died around the age of thirty. Indeed, John the Baptist was a very young man. His spiritual age did not correspond to his natural age.
Do you think that Jesus Christ was spiritually mature? Of course He was! But He was only thirty years old when He began the ministry. Jesus was the most mature spiritual person that ever walked the earth and yet He only lived to be thirty-three years old!
Indeed, your spiritual age and your natural age are completely unrelated. What about the apostles whom Jesus appointed? How old do you think they were? Most people lead those younger than themselves. The apostles and disciples were probably younger than Jesus. Peter, James, John and the others became apostles when they were young men. Indeed, your spiritual age is not determined by your natural age. Do not assume that when a person is older, he is wiser spiritually! Do not believe that you cannot become great spiritually because you are young. The presence of lustful thoughts does not mean God is not happy with you. Lustful thoughts are part of a youthful body. You can be a great spiritual person even though you are young.
