READ: Philippians 1:6-11
“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 3:1
There is a general lack of knowledge of the Scriptures and an inability to quote Scriptures among many Christians. Every Christian should have a version of the Bible from which he quotes accurately. Jesus Christ memorized Scriptures. In Matthew 4, when the devil tempted Jesus, He accurately quoted Scriptures from Deuteronomy and paralysed the devil with them.
After a while, a believer is expected to be a teacher of the things he has received (Hebrews 5:12). The failure of the majority of believers to rise into Christian leadership is simply a sign of shallowness, which is caused by failure to interact with the Lord.
Many Christians mumble along as the congregation is led in worship. They do not know God and have no personal desire to learn the songs and to worship God. They wait for the pastor’s jokes, and find entertainment in them. Again, the shallowness of many Christians is manifested in their inability to regularly fellowship with the Lord and with others. They struggle to attend church every Sunday and often arrive late. It is almost as though they have a chore to do.
As you read your Bible and Christian books and listen to recorded preaching messages, you will increase your knowledge of God. Anyone who has some depth with God spends at least an hour everyday in the presence of the Lord. Shallowness will be stamped out and Christianity will have more meaning for us all.
