“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…” – James 4:8
It is possible to be a church member and to do great things but not know God.
There are people in my church who do wonderful works in the name of the church or on my behalf. However, the reality is that I do not know them personally because they do not interact with me.
Earlier on, when someone would ask me how they could do better in the ministry, I would give them twenty-five principles for church growth and then I would show them eighteen strategies for effective evangelism. I might show them seven steps to an excellent ministry. Now, if you ask me that same question I would say just draw closer to God and know Him personally. You see, there is no point in running around on His behalf when you do not know Him personally.
It is said that pastors worldwide pray an average of seven minutes a day. If the pastors are spending less than ten minutes with their Heavenly Father, then perhaps the ordinary members are spending a few seconds every week with their Lord.
It is no wonder the Church is the way it is. It is time to know Him personally. The only way is to have a regular daily reading of the Bible. This may actually be your passport to Heaven.
