READ: Mark 12:38-40
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation” – Matthew 23:14
There are so many pretentious people who want to gain the favour of important people. They give themselves away so easily by trying to be what they are not. It is important to be yourself. It is not easy to maintain an act for long. How long do you think Rambo can pretend to have so many guns and be able to overcome hundreds of policemen singlehandedly?
Everything acted is unreal. I have watched as people tried to develop unreal foreign accents. Sometimes I feel sorry for their tongues, their lips and their mouths. How painfully difficult it must be to constantly have to speak in an unnatural way. So many ladies pretend to be clean, nice-mannered, polite and soft spoken, whereas in reality, they are ill natured, stubborn and contentious!
It is not so difficult to see through the multitude of lipstick, artificial hair, nails and eye lashes. When they snap at their husbands, children or house helps you see the real person peeping through the thick cloud of deception and unrealism.
When the king discovers that he is dealing with the real thing, he is attracted to have more because he knows that it is the real thing.
